  • Assertiveness

Assert... what? Assertiveness! It is the ability to speak up for ourselves in a way that is honest and respectful. It also means being able to stand up for your own or other people's rights in a calm and positive way, without being either aggressive or passively accepting "wrong". Assertive individuals are able to get their point across without upsetting others or becoming upset themselves. But... what exactly is "assertiveness"? • Humility is NOT equal to submissive/insecure

Humility is NOT equal to submissive/insecure

    Quite the opposite.
See, humble people are confident and competent in THEMSELVES . They seek to help others. They let their actions speak for their ideals. Humble individuals actively listen to others before summarizing the conversation and do not try to dominate the conversation or talk over people. • Our word for the last week of February.

Our word for the last week of February.

Discipline: a training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character. Discipline helps us be productive even when we don't feel like it, without temptation or laziness getting in the way. It empowers us to live our lives the way we ideally want to. With discipline comesthe formation of better habits, which lead to stronger school grades, improved mood, improved eating choices... you name it! No ....

Traditional martial arts will teach you the importance of putting your ego aside and respecting yourself and your surroundings. This translates to respecting other people as well. Learning martial arts reinforces etiquette, respecting rules, and following a code of honor.
Martial artists mentally and physically refrain from violence and only use it for self-defense when it's only the ....

    It’s February, y’all!

Wow! Our first month is over. As the second one starts, our beginner class is getting ready for their belt test/ceremony.
